Taming Hot-Spots in DHT Inverted Indexes

چکیده
DHT systems are structured overlay networks capable of using P2P resources as a scalable platform for very large data storage applications. However, their efficiency expects a level of uniformity in the association of data to index keys that is often not present in inverted indexes. Index data tends to follow nonuniform distributions, often power law distributions, creating intense local storage hotspots and network bottlenecks on specific hosts. Current techniques like caching cannot, alone, cope with this issue. We propose a new distributed data structure based on a decentralized balanced tree to balance storage data and network load more uniformly across all hosts. The approach is stackable with standard DHTs and ensures that the DHT storage subsystem receives an uniform load by assigning fixed sized, or low variance,

Flexible Sharing in Dht-based P2p Networks Using Metadata of Resource
DHT-based P2P systems have the ability to map a resource’s identifier to its location, so a resource can be located by the unique identifier of the resource. In such systems users must know the identifier of a resource exactly to find the resource. However, a resource can not be described accurately and integrally only by an identifier for the variety and complexity of resources, and needs mult...
متن کاملBuilding Inverted Indexes Using Balanced Trees Over DHT Systems
Objects containing the document locations for popular keywords are sufficiently large to create storage hotspots at some hosts. Since each object is assigned to a single key, DHT key based load balancing techniques are incapable of splitting the object through several hosts. Furthermore, caching techniques only reduce network load for query operations and not handling network load during insert...

متن کاملHot Spots Analysis of Landscape Metrics and Runoff Landscape Index in Ardabil Province
Hot spots are often associated with places where an abnormal process has occurred. Accordingly, their identification can help experts and managers to scrutinize the state of health and sustainability, from an ecological point of view. The present study was therefore conducted to analyze the spatial autocorrelation and identify hot spots of 11 landscape metrics, the new Runoff Landscape Index (R...
متن کاملApplication of Combustion Hot Spot Analysis to Process Furnace with Arbor Coils
Hot spots are among the most serious operational issues in furnaces as they may result in the destruction of tubes. Hence, it is essential to locate such hot spots precisely on the tube surfaces inside the industrial furnaces in order to secure a safe design and operation. In the current study, we have extended the model proposed by Talmor in order to precisely locate the combustion hot spots o...
